What was I thinking?

I know what I was FEELING….but, what was I THINKING?

I was feeling like fresh new hair without those chemicals. You know, the subtle difference where people can’t quite put their finger on what looks so much better about you? SOOOO…I bought all natural Henna! When I opened the box…. it contained a green powdered mix in a cellophane bag with a looooong list of directions.

Since I’d long lost the receipt…I was feeling ahhhh – adventurous.  ”How hard can this be?”

Once mixed and heated (yes, I said,”heated“)I had a greenish/brownish muddy pudding – with a strong odor in a glass bowl. (instructions said ‘glass’?)

As my kids came to find me in my bathroom hideout {to ask me urgent questions} they each stopped abruptly to inform me that it STINKS!!  With pinched noses, they asked, “What are you doing?”. Feeling frugal, I dutifully responded, “Coloring my hair”. My young son took a looooong look at the bowl and back at me and asked, “Green?”.

Undaunted, I plopped the muddy mixture onto my hair with a spoon, wore the plastic head covering for uhmmmm, a long time,  then rinsed off the goo in the utility sink. I was feeling….optiomistic!

I removed the towel to find my hair looking strickingly similar to the color it was before this half-day project… and smelling like …. freshly cut WHEAT!

The good news is, it must have tuely been “all natural” because almost ALL the spots came out of the carpet. :) Whew!!

Now, what was I thinking?

My mom has used that and I have helped her. It does have an unusual smell and texture!

Hi Roxie,
I hear the liquid is better, but has a tendency to turn the hair orange over time….
Think I’m headed back to the salon!! This financial crisis is getting a little too personal. :)
