Back in the day when Tim and I decided to ‘let go’ of our ideals and see what God would do with a couple of kids just crazy enough to believe that children ARE a blessing -
we thought we were all alone.
Few would listen to our big plans to have a houseful of kids and even fewer would dare venture into the unknown waters of home-educating.
Through the years we’ve met countless (no pun intended) families who have walked this road less traveled. And come to find out – we’re not alone at all!
Now, it’s even POPULAR to have a big family!
Who would think?
If you’re considering jumping in … and want my advice? ‘Come on in ~ the water’s fine’!
Here’s some large family love -

One of my favorite large family blogs is http://www.ThePenningtonPoint.com
We used to have a large family… or so we thought. Now we say “we ONLY have 3″ :0)
The large families we know are blessings to us!
We are expecting #5 in June and we homeschool. It is going to be a challenge to have 5 ages 7 and under, but this is what God wants and we know He will equip us with His goodness and grace to do His will.
I am also in the “we ONLY have 3″ category:) But I do think it is becoming more common to have large families again. I have a friend with 6 of her own and 1 foster child. Another friend of mine just had her 5th and plans to homeschool all of them. I love being around big families, there is always something fun going on!
Don’t really qualify for LARGE family. I have 3 young adult children and one son in heaven. I am delighted that my daughter is expecting #4.
Children are a blessing and I am glad to read about families with many children.
Have a blessed Mother’s day weekend!
Thank you for the large family love!
I so wished to have a larger family, but the Lord planned differently. Only three here. Our oldest graduated from college yesterday…our homeschool milestone that we hope to repeat a couple more times. I love our large family friends.
Oh, and Happy Mother’s Day to you!
I hate to keep commenting, but the comment luv isn’t posting my most recent post. I took the check off so it will take you to my home page. Thanks.
I love your large family. I’ve always been intrigued and fascinated by the idea of it and consider you such a blessing as I’ve watched some of your children grow up. Even my parents have been blessed by watching your kids as they sat behind them in church on Christmas Eve … they’ve commented about their actions and Godly demeanors many times.
Our family is small compared to yours but you and Tim have guided us and blessed us in so many ways as we’ve watched from afar.
i’ve always LOVED large families! any time i used to watch movies like “cheaper by the dozen” or “yours, mine and ours”, when most of the world got turned off to the idea of having a bunch of kids, it made me want to jump right in. i just think it looks like so much fun! until i got married, i always said i wanted eight. then i thought, well, 5 would be ok. my then-boyfriend-now-husband said he only wanted 3 or 4 and i thought that’s so few! of course after one and now 2, i know how hard it can be! i would really like for my daughter to have a sister and my son to have a brother, but we’ll see what happens! i know it’s something that both husband and wife have to really want, and will consider it an honor and a blessing if the Lord gives us more =)
I love large families! I always wanted 5 children, my grandmother had 12. I am in awe of your 14.
Just 4 here… so far!
We sure do love large families and yours is one we admire as much as the Duggars and Bates but we get to know you in “real life”…. wow, how cool for us!!
Well, I must admit that had the Lord not placed me in Sojourn growing up around many large homeschooling families I KNOW I wouldnt be where I am today…living this blessed life! I know He used that season of my growing up years to show me what family life should look like while serving the Lord. Thank you- you and Tim- for being such a wonderful example in godly parenting and shining the light of yalls love for each other, the Lord and your children so brightly through the years. I know many people have been touched and ministered to through yalls family and I count it a privilege, and thank the Lord, that yall were an example in my life in my younger years! AND now that you both have blogs Derek and I can both continue to be ministered to through your and Tims example!
