A Night to Remember

Victoria’s Highschool Graduation

This graduation ceremony was a backyard, vintage, family affair. The night unfolded like a fairy tale ~ dim lights, peaceful music, loyal friends, delicious horsd’oeuvres and lots of laughter. Grandparents, nieces and nephews graced the gathering of friends and family. Artwork, favorite books, trophies and pictures of our little girl donned her display of accomplishments.

Victoria’s our third daughter and 6th child ~ the sweetness in the middle of our king-sized family. She’s through with her years of homeschooling, debated her last round, attended her final piano recital and closed the books with a smile.

The ceremony was simple, yet elegant; inexpensive, yet elaborate. Lydia, her BFF lives across the street. The girls planned the details and decorated most of it themselves. We parents spoke a blessing and each told stories of days gone by ~ dear to our hearts. Siblings spoke their heart and friends chimed in with details of a life we all hold dear.

Both girls ended the day with a full heart and sense of accomplishment. Parents did too.

We homeschool and this is all the ceremony we offered ~ but it was more than enough. The way we do it ~ each graduation is tailored around the person of honor. We have so many dear memories of this rites of passage with our kids. We’ll be graduating Amos next year, with a different flair, of course.

If you’re planning a graduation ceremony next year I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
