Safe at Home
“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
Softball was required in my gym class. And I was *chosen* for the least popular position – center field! Junior High girls rarely hit the ball into midfield. I think that was the plan. To pass the time, I watched the West Texas sun pass overhead, while dodging red-ants and trying to look alive. My only hope was to cross home base. No dramatic slide needed. My goal? To walk away in one piece – preferably without getting dirty.
Truth be told; I was afraid of the ball – so I endured the game.
As a young mother, once the fanfare ceased and the newness of birth wore off – I had flashbacks of those days. Standing alone in center field – with a heavy glove and sweaty brow – waiting for the school bell to release me from the risk of failure.
So what’s a mom to do?
I’m writing today again at Mom Heart – please follow me there for the rest of this story which relates to ALL of us mothers!
