I’m Diving In

Girl diving into a pool.

Here I go!!

I’m brand new to blogging (1 month now). It’s National Blog Posting Month (November) so I’m diving in and trying to post EVERY day. I have a new Macbook (thanks honey!) so I don’t share the home PC with our 5 teenagers anymore. (Freedom!) I want you to know I’m on a learning curve and loving it.

I love the connection stay at home moms have through blogging. I think it’s healthy in so many ways. It enables you to “get out of the house” more often. I particulaly like blogging, because I can do it at my leisure. The kids don’t suffer (usually…) and I can work on it in the middle of the night when my body’s not in the sleeping mode. I’m convinced – it’s good for the brain. They’ll have research verifying this someday, I’m sure.

I want to know what you think. What challenges you have and what you’d like to see covered. Please contact me with your ideas!

I’m not really into contests – so I don’t imagine I’ll have many of those. I don’t do “bells and whistles” real well either – so you won’t find a bunch of those on this site. I DO want to have depth of content and address the WHY more than the HOW. That’s what you’ll find here. I will pepper my ideals with daily living though – this stuff is real … very real.

I’m doing this to help. I want to say things I wish I’d heard years ago. I don’t have all the answers – noone does.

I have so many ideas, I’m not sure where to start. Bear with me as I stumble through the tedious process of learning blogging. Darcy, who designed this blog, can attest I just know enough to be dangerous! BUT – I’m a fast learner!! All homeschool moms are. :)

I’m not in this to make a name for myself – my kids do that for me. I’m honored to be nominated for The Best New Homeschool Blog by The Homeschool Post. IF you think Above and Beyond is worthy of this title – please vote. Tomorrow’s the last day.

If you voted for me already- THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It’s a huge boost of confidence for this beginner and given me the courage to DIVE IN!!

Your blog is beautiful. I have a Darcy blog too, so I love to see her latest creations. I also have a new Mac that I’m having fun trying to figure out and it definitely makes blogging more fun. : ) I can’t really help you with ideas — I love it all! Just write about the things that interest you because you will likely find people who are interested in the same things. Welcome to blogging!

I’d love to know how you have dealt with “entertainment” with little ones! My baby is 4 months [REALLY?!?!?!] and I just don’t know what to do! flashing lights and plastic have never been our idea of fun, so we are lost because that seems to be all thats out there! I make as many toys as I can, and I’m new to “stay-at-home-ness” so this can be a little overwhelming, especially with my new small business I started.

LOVE your blog, you keep us very encouraged!

Debi,
Thank you for the encouraging comments. I love your blog design. I look forward to “following” you. I can see you will use this venue as a wonderful source for encouragement and mentoring. And congratulations on your nomination and success in the New Homeschool Blog category!

I recently stumbled upon your blog and am enjoying it very much. I really like reading about how different families educate their children at home. I also like to read a day in the life kind of articles.
Blessings
Diane
